We have all seen the damage that plastic is doing to our planet, not only on land but in our seas. This issue is becoming more visible and in recent months, we’ve seen the protests (whether we agree with their methods or not) by Extinction Rebellion. Bigger names are getting on board and voicing their concerns with plastic, following the publicity Greta Thunberg has brought to the cause.
The damage plastic can do:
- Plastic gets everywhere! It litters our streets and our beaches
- It kills animals, and not just those in the ocean.
- It’s a major by-product of fracking which pollutes the air, water and
- Not all plastic produced is recyclable and not everyone recycles the plastic that can be.
- Plastic can take up to 1,000 years to decompose.
Plastic can be useful but we need to be clever about how we use it. The long life of plastic means it can be used more than once, great for us and the planet. Try using your plastic pots and tubs for storage, there are so many hacks online to reuse your plastic.
We recently made a conscious effort to reduce our plastic. So far we have introduced glass jars, not only limiting the amount of plastic we use but they look great too! These are recyclable (helping the planet) and some creative people have even been using them as plant pots extending their life.
Whilst we are not 100% plastic free with our products as our lids are plastic, we have done our upmost to create product jars that are reusable in many ways! As our glass jars are coated on the inside, they can be cleaned easily and used for further storage of cosmetics or even cosmetic tools. Due to the nature of our products, we need to have the best seal possible to keep them fresh as they contain no preservatives, in order to achieve this we need the plastic lids to keep our body products fresh, sterile and amazing for you! Watch out for 2020 though as we make some more changes to our brand… We hope you’re as excited as we are!
